The Biotechnology Institute

Mission

Our mission is to engage, excite, and educate as many people as possible, particularly young people, about biotechnology and its immense potential to heal the sick, feed the hungry, restore the environment, and fuel the economy.

We promote excellence in biotechnology research from the best and brightest minds in the next generation of innovators.  Our efforts unite the national biotechnology community, including students, teachers, schools and mentors in delivering more effective workforce development and training to sustain the industry’s growth and impact.

Background

Founded by the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) in 1998 as a 501(c)3 educational foundation, the Biotechnology Institute (Institute) was formed to bridge the knowledge gap about the life sciences between the general public and the biotechnology community.
