Got Time? Get Healthy Health Fair

Description: The Knox County Health Department will display educational booths on healthy eating/healthy weight, physical activity, tobacco/smoking, STD’s/HIV/teen pregnancy, and healthy relationships/dating violence. Cholesterol, glucose, BMI, and blood pressure screenings will be available. The health fair will be marketed to over 6,000 BlueCare and TennCare Select members, the majority who are women and low income, through Volunteer State Health Plan. Two Eating Healthy cooking demonstrations will be offered to health department employees, promoting the use of healthy ingredients and nutritious meal planning. The East Tennessee Worksite Wellness Roundtable monthly meeting will be held during Women’s Health week at the health department. Worksite Wellness Roundtable partners from 75+ businesses will receive informational packets regarding women’s health. Health topics will include women’s reproductive health, preventative screenings, chronic disease, such as diabetes, cancer, and healthy lifestyle choices. Each partner will be encouraged to take the information back to their respective business and promote with their employees.
