Activities
Roadside, Auto Tour Route highway signs mark the general routes of the California National Historic Trail, approximating the trails used by pioneer emigrants. Actual wagon wheel ruts, emigrant camps and other places of interest along the trail can be visited at the sites listed throughout these web pages. Driving directions to the sites are provided from major highways and nearby towns. To follow overland trail routes between sites, consult local brochures and guides.
Entrance and parking fees may be charged at some locations and hours vary at the discretion of the site administrator. Large groups are encouraged to make prior arrangements for tours, where available. Please respect private property by staying in public areas, and help protect our national heritage by leaving trail resources undisturbed.
