1. Where can I find reports presenting Census 2000 data on veteran of military service?
See the Census 2000 Brief , "Veterans: 2000", which can be found on the Census Bureau's website at: http://www.census.gov/prod/2003pubs/c2kbr-22.pdf
Tables presenting Census 2000 data on veterans (including military service status and period of military service) can be found by using the American Fact finder, Summary File 3. For example, Table 38 presents information for people 16 to 19 years old by school enrollment and educational attainment; Table P39 presents data on sex by age by Armed Forces status by veteran status for people 18 years and over; Table 40 shows data on period of military service for veterans 18 years and over. This information can be found by going to: http://factfinder.census.gov/servlet/DatasetMainPageServlet?_ds_name=DEC_2000_SF3_U&_program=DEC&_lang=en . The American Fact Finder also allows you to search by subject, so you can choose "Veteran Status" and find other tables associated with veterans.
