CAAHEP Continues to Grow!  At the Annual Meeting in San Antonio, the Commissioners voted to accept the Lactation Consultants as the newest profession to be accredited by CAAHEP.  Currently, a Committee on Accreditation is being formed and Standards will soon be developed.

Four new Sponsoring Organizations join CAAHEP's Ranks!  The Commissioners voted in four new sponsoring organizations during the 2009 Annual Meeting.  Please join us in welcoming the International Lactation Consultant Association, the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners, the International Association of Fire Chiefs, and the American Ambulance Association.

Congratulations to Sondra Flemming on receiving the 2009 CAAHEP Exceptional Service Award, presented at the Annual Meeting, April 20, 2009.

New Board Members.  During the election process at the Annual Meeting, the following individuals were elected to the CAAHEP Board of Directors:  Kathleen Jung and Kalyani Naik, representing Committees on Accreditation; Hugh Bonner and LaCheeta McPherson, representing Educational Programs; and Sean Harbison as a Sponsoring Organization Representative.  These members will join Jinny Gender, who was elected to one of the Public Member Board positions in January.  Also, Clifford Araki, Carolyn O'Daniel, and Rob Wagner were elected to serve as members on the Nominating and Elections Committee.  All Board and Committee positions begin July 1, 2009.

Board Accreditation Action Schedule:  The next time the CAAHEP Board of Directors will meet on to take action on accreditation items will be via conference call on May 15, 2009, at 3:00 PM.
