Directions to Park Destinations via Limantour Road

Directions to Sky Trailhead
Allow 10 minutes for the drive from the Bear Valley Visitor Center.

  • From the Bear Valley Visitor Center, head north 0.2 miles (0.3 km) to Bear Valley Road.
  • Turn left and follow Bear Valley Road 1.25 miles (2 km) northwest to Limantour Road, signed for “Hostel and Limantour Beach.”
  • Turn left and follow Limantour Road 3.4 miles (5.4 km) west to the Sky Trailhead, which is located on the left side of the road.

Directions to Bayview Trailhead
Allow 10 minutes for the drive from the Bear Valley Visitor Center.

  • From the Bear Valley Visitor Center, head north 0.2 miles (0.3 km) to Bear Valley Road.
  • Turn left and follow Bear Valley Road 1.25 miles (2 km) northwest to Limantour Road, signed for “Hostel and Limantour Beach.”
  • Turn left and follow Limantour Road 4.4 miles (7 km) west to the Bayview Trailhead, which is located on the right side of the road.

Directions to the Point Reyes Hostel. the Laguna Trailhead, and the Clem Miller Environmental Education Center
Allow 15 minutes for the drive from the Bear Valley Visitor Center.

  • From the Bear Valley Visitor Center, head north 0.2 miles (0.3 km) to Bear Valley Road.
  • Turn left and follow Bear Valley Road 1.25 miles (2 km) northwest to Limantour Road, signed for “Hostel and Limantour Beach.”
  • Turn left and follow Limantour Road 5.9 miles (9.4 km) west. After descending a very steep hill, you will arrive at a crossroads signed for “Hostel and Education Center”.
  • Turn left and proceed carefully along this one-lane wide driveway. The northern end of the Coast Trail is on the right side of the road at 0.25 miles (0.4 km). The Hostel is on the left side of the road after 0.3 miles (0.5 km). The Laguna Trailhead parking area is on the right side of the road after 0.5 miles (0.8 km). The Education Center is at the end of the road.

Note: Vehicles more than 24 feet long are not permitted on the road leading to the Education Center. Buses carrying groups headed to the Education Center will need to park and unload in the parking area on the left side of the road located 5.5 miles (8.8 km) along Limantour Road.

Directions to the Muddy Hollow Trailhead
Allow 15 minutes for the drive from the Bear Valley Visitor Center.

  • From the Bear Valley Visitor Center, head north 0.2 miles (0.3 km) to Bear Valley Road.
  • Turn left and follow Bear Valley Road 1.25 miles (2 km) northwest to Limantour Road, signed for “Hostel and Limantour Beach.”
  • Turn left and follow Limantour Road 5.9 miles (9.4 km) west. After descending a very steep hill, you will arrive at a crossroads signed for “Hostel and Education Center” and “Muddy Hollow Trail”.
  • Turn right and descend a short hill about 0.25 miles (0.4 km) to the Muddy Hollow Trailhead parking lot.

Directions to Limantour Beach
Allow 20 minutes for the drive from the Bear Valley Visitor Center.

  • From the Bear Valley Visitor Center, head north 0.2 miles (0.3 km) to Bear Valley Road.
  • Turn left and follow Bear Valley Road 1.25 miles (2 km) northwest to Limantour Road, signed for “Hostel and Limantour Beach.”
  • Turn left and follow Limantour Road 7.5 miles (12 km) west to the parking lot at Limantour Beach.

Did You Know?
Harbor seals (Phoca vitulina) are present in the waters of Point Reyes year round. Every spring, approximately 7,000 harbor seals, or 20% of the mainland California breeding population, haul out on the beaches of Point Reyes. Look for them in the esteros and in Tomales Bay and Bolinas Lagoon.
