International Association of Cancer RegistriesThe International Association of Cancer Registries (IACR) was created to foster the exchange of information between cancer registries internationally, improving quality of data and comparability between registries. It is primarily for population-based registries, which collect information on the occurrence and outcome of cancer in defined population groups (usually the inhabitants of a city, region, or country). IACR was founded in 1966 as a professional society dedicated to fostering the aims and activities of cancer registries worldwide. To encourage comparisons between different registries, countries, and over time, the IACR has developed registry practices and standard definitions for collecting, coding, and presenting data. Partnership ActivitiesCDC provides funds to support IACR's annual conference. This conference advances professional development by providing an educational opportunity for cancer registrars from international cancer registries to increase their knowledge and improve their professional expertise. Support of this conference is consistent with CDC's mission to support population-based cancer registries worldwide. International Association of Cancer Registries
