Basin Water Supply for the Great Lakes
The USGS, in cooperation with the Great Lakes Commission and several federal, state, and provincial agencies, is helping to develop the framework for a decision-support system that will address water use and diversion issues in the Great Lakes. The USGS has a lead role in the part of the project that is assessing how well we can quantify the water budget of the Great Lakes and what needs to be done to improve our measurements and models. This project is funded primarily by the Great Lakes Protection Fund and partly by the Great Lakes Commission and the USGS. Several other agencies are providing in-kind support. More information on this international multi-agency project can be found at http://www.glc.org/wateruse/wrmdss.html |
