2009 Chemical Sector Security Summit
The 2009 Chemical Security Summit will be held June 29 - July 1, 2009 in Baltimore, Md. It is co-sponsored by the Chemical Sector-Specific Agency within the Department of Homeland Security Office of Infrastructure Protection (IP) and the Chemical Sector Coordinating Council (CSCC).
Chemical Sector Comprehensive Reviews
In conducting the voluntary Chemical Sector Comprehensive Review, the Office of Infrastructure Protection works closely with federal, state, and local homeland security authorities, as well as the private-sector owners and operators, to identify security enhancements and protective measures.
Critical Infrastructure: Chemical Security
The Department of Homeland Security is responsible for regulating security at high-risk chemical facilities. However, chemical security is not solely a federal responsibility; it is shared among federal, state, and local governments, as well as the private sector. Government and industry must work together to strengthen the security of America's chemical facilities, while not undercutting an important part of the nation's economy.
