Hearing Conservation Program Checklist
Failures or deficiencies in hearing conservation programs
(hearing loss prevention programs) can often be traced to
inadequacies in the training and education of noise-exposed
employees and those who conduct elements of the program. How
does your program measure up?
Compendium of Hearing Protection Devices - Online Version
This
latest compendium (June 2003) replaces the earlier PDF version
of the 1994 Hearing Protector Compendium (NIOSH Pub. No. 95-105).
The current online version has comprehensive, searchable listing
of manufacturers' data on hearing protection devices. The data
includes mean attenuations and standard deviations of the attenutations,
protector construction, materials, and other features that may
aid in selection of protectors for specific situations.
Power Tools Database
NIOSH has developed an informational database on commonly
used power tools in occupational settings. The database is
particularly helpful in determining the "real-world" noise
level of power tools as they are used on the job.
College Student Solutions on Power Tool Noise Emissions
The Division of Applied Research and Technology of the National
Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) sponsored
student engineering teams and tasked them to identify noise
emission sources on various power tools and to make recommendations
to reduce those emissions.

Noise Reduction Ideas Bank
Recently launched on the state of Washington's Department of Labor & Industries
website, this "ideas bank" is a searchable databank of possible solutions
for reducing noise in the workplace. It is essentially a list of noise control
ideas and solutions gleaned from many sources and compiled in a single databank.
