SECRETARY CLINTON: I want to thank Minister Spanta and the delegation from Afghanistan for a series of excellent meetings. They have been, as you know, meeting with the – our government and with the Pakistani delegation. I have just finished a very productive discussion. There will now be a trilateral meeting between our government and the delegations from Afghanistan and Pakistan, and I thank the minister. Thank you so much.
FOREIGN MINISTER SPANTA: Thank you. Ladies and gentlemen, on behalf of my delegation, I would like to express sincere gratitude and appreciation to Secretary Clinton. Afghanistan is proud of its strategic partnership with the United States of America. Together, over the past seven years, we’ve come a long way in our joint efforts to combat terrorism and achieve stability and prosperity in Afghanistan and in the region.
Afghanistan is grateful for President Obama’s personal commitment to Afghanistan. His decision to review U.S.-Afghanistan policy is a clear sign of his determination to see Afghanistan’s success as we move forward in consolidating our past achievements and tackling challenges at this time.
Discussion will result in cementing our bilateral relations and our partnership. Madame Secretary, I thank you very much again, to give us this opportunity to come together with our Pakistani friends and brothers to discuss the problems of security in our region. I can ensure you Afghanistan is committed with you to address the menace of terrorism and to work together, closely together on democratization of Afghanistan and its stability.
