Virgina Blaser arrived in Mauritius on August 1, 2007.
Since joining the US Foreign Service in 1989, Virginia Blaser has served in a variety of posts including Madrid, Brussels, London, and Washington. She enjoyed a diversity of Foreign Service positions in those assignments -- from Special Assistant to the US Ambassador in London to working as a political, management or consular officer. Before arriving in Mauritius, Virginia was the U.S. Consul General in San Salvador, El Salvador. Virginia graduated cum laude from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, with a triple major in History, Anthropology and Latin American Studies. She also studied at the Fundacion Jose Ortega y Gasset in Madrid, Spain.
