Marianne Myles is the Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Cape Verde. She joined the Foreign Service in 1975 and during her 30+ year career has served in a wide variety of positions both overseas and in Washington. 

Ms. Myles' most recent overseas assignments were as Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Embassy in Montevideo, Uruguay, and Principal Officer of the US Consulate in Naples, Italy. She has also served in Brasilia, Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre, Rome, and Bogota. 

In Washington, Ms. Myles most recently was the Director of the State Department’s Office of Recruitment, Examination and Employment. Prior to that, she served as Director of the Office of Aviation Negotiations, Director of Policy Coordination for the Director General of the Foreign Service, as an International Economist in the Office of Business Practices and earlier as an Economist in the Office of East-West Trade. 

Ms. Myles holds a Bachelors Degree in Economics from the State University of New York at Oswego, a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University, and a Masters of Science in National Security Strategy from the National Defense University. She speaks Spanish, Italian and Portuguese, and she is a multiple recipient of the Department of State's Superior and Meritorious Honor Awards.
