ARMY

Caterpillar, Inc.-Defense & Federal Products, TC, Mossville, Ill., is being awarded a $8,146,105 modification to a firm-fixed-price contract for 23 deployable universal combat earthmover vehicles(DEUCE). Work will be performed in Minneapolis, Minn. (80%) and Peoria, Ill. (20%), and is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2000. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were 20 bids solicited on Jan. 5, 1995, and one bid received. The contracting activity is the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive & Armaments Command, Warren, Mich. (DAAE07-95-C-X056).

Raytheon Systems Company (formerly Hughes Aircraft Company), is being awarded a $5,131,620 modification to a firm-fixed-price contract for 215 Bradley Eye Laser Range Finder (BELRF) Kits. Work will be performed in LaGrange, Ga., and is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2000. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This is a sole source contract solicited on June 25, 1996. The contracting activity is the U.S. Army Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal, Ala. (DAAHo1-97-C-0089).

NAVY

  • Genelabs Technologies, Inc., Redwood City, Calif., has been awarded a $13,592,769 grant for research and development to discover drugs to combat unconventional biological agents. Genelabs work will focus on drugs based on small molecules that act by targeting binding specific nucleic acid structures and sequences. Work will be performed in Redwood City, Calif., and is expected to be completed February 2001. Funds will not expire at the end
  • of the current fiscal year. This grant was announced under a Broad Agency Announcement with 43 proposals solicited and 43 offers received. The Space & Naval Warfare Systems Command's Systems Center, Charleston, S.C., is the grant awarding activity (N65236-98-1-5400).
