SmartBenefits® is a convenient Web-based program that lets employers assign the dollar value of employees' monthly commuting benefit directly to employees' SmarTrip® cards. This can be done right from your computer using our website. With SmartBenefits®, you'll immediately eliminate the need to distribute Metrocheks for use on Metrorail, Metrobus, most regional bus systems, and van pools.
Before bidding on procurements, all Metro vendors must register in the Vendor Registration System. Also, Small Local Businesses and/or Disadvantaged Business Enterprises must complete two additional steps to become certified with Metro.
Metro assigns DBE participation goals on a contract-by-contract basis on federally funded construction contracts having a total dollar value greater than $500,000 and on non-construction procurements (i.e., contracts for services, supplies, and equipment) having a total value greater than $100,000. Due to a concept called "narrow tailoring," not all contracts will have a DBE goal assigned.
Metro has a very active public/private Joint Development Program. Metro aggressively seeks partners to develop Metro-owned or controlled property.
The Joint Development Program is governed by the Joint Development Policies and Guidelines (PDF), approved in 2008.
The Metro Office of Joint Development and Adjacent Construction (JDAC) reviews and approves joint development projects and those projects adjacent to Metrorail and Metrobus property, facilities, and operations.
The Metro Office of Station Area Planning and Asset Management (SAAM) reviews and approves: a) applications to enter upon and use Metro real estate, and b) requests to obtain Metro documents.
New Vendor Registration: Vendors new to Metro may register for future business opportunities.
Registered Vendors: Vendors with a user account and password may update vendor records and search for information.
