Oracle RDBMS on the MVS Systems Will Retire on September 30, 1999
Use of the Oracle RDBMS on the MVS North and South system has decreased while maintenance costs have significantly increased, and Oracle has been slow to provide updated releases for the MVS platform. For these reasons Oracle RDBMS will no longer be provided on the NIH Computer Center’s MVS systems as of September 30, 1999.
Oracle is available on the Enterprise Open System (EOS) Unix platform, which offers up-to-date, high-performance service in a robust environment. Oracle on EOS has become our primary Oracle RDBMS database platform.
