Project Number | 385 |
Date of Summary | August 06, 2000 |
Subject | IUTAM Symposium: Scaling Laws in Ice Mechanics and Ice Dynamics |
Performing Activity | Clarkson University, Potsdem, New York |
Contracting Agency | Minerals Management Service |
Completion | Completed |
Description | The aim of the symposium was to develop a better understanding of the ice deformation process and the role of ice movements in the atmosphere-ice- ocean-system. The major objective was to bring together the researchers who have made significant by various scales of the study of sea ice and those who have made contributions to the mechanics of sea ice and to establish a common understanding of the processes. |
Progress | The workshop was held in Fairbanks, Alaska on January 12 - 15, 2000 and was attended by over 100 scientists in the field of sea ice. Proceedings have been published (ISBN 1-4020-0171-1) and can be purchased from the Library of Congress. |
