Recent MMS studies in this area concentrate
A Floating Production Storage and Offloading vesselon technologies needed for moving into deep water as well as looking for solutions to current problems. Examples of deep water production research include studies of production riser technology, deep water multiphase flow, and investigating the safety and reliability of new production systems. The MMS is also studying gas migration and buildup in wells in hope of finding new solutions to this persistent problem.
