Task Force Arrests Level Three Sex Offender
Fort Smith, AR - The U.S. Marshals Service, Western Arkansas Sex Offender and Violent Crime Task Force, announce the arrest of Rex Ellis Allen, age 49. At approximately 7:30 p.m. on April 16, 2009, Investigators with the Task Force developed information indicating Allen, who was wanted for Parole Violations - Petition to Revoke his Suspended Sentence and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, was in Mountainburg, Arkansas. The Task Force had been working the felon fugitive case on Allen for over one month, tracking Allen through various locations in Arkansas and rural Oklahoma.

Investigators briefed at 5:00 a.m. on 04/17/2009 and prepared to approach the rural Crawford County residence in the cover of darkness. Investigators gained a tactical approach to the residence where Allen had been hiding. At approximately 6:30 a.m. investigators approached the residence. Allen was taken into custody without incident at approximately 06:45. Investigators interviewed other individuals in the residence who stated that Allen had arrived about 7:00 p.m. the night before and that he was planning on leaving early in the morning on the day of his arrest.

Deputy U.S. Marshals and officers from the Arkansas Department of Community Correction, Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, Alma Police Department, Fort Smith Police Department and the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit operated as a team in apprehending this fugitive.
Every year, the U.S. Marshals and its associated Task Forces throughout the country arrest more fugitives than all federal law enforcement agencies combined. Last year, this number was more than 73,014 state and local fugitives and more than 36,000 federal fugitives.
