NH 'America's Most Wanted' Arrested by U.S. Marshals - NH Joint Fugitive Task Force

Cambridge, MA – Richard Malave, 28, was arrested by members of the U.S. Marshals – NH Joint Fugitive Task Force including the Hillsborough County (NH) Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Cambridge, MA Police Department, and MA Probation Officers. Malave was arrested on two outstanding NH warrants, including First Degree Assault, Robbery, and a variety of other arrest warrants issued in Massachusetts.

Malave has been on the run since April 2007 shortly after Malave is alleged to have committed a
robbery and shot the victim in the stomach. In February 2008, the U.S. Marshals – New Hampshire Joint
Fugitive Task Force was requested to assist in locating Malave by both the Hillsborough County (NH)
Sheriff’s Office and the Manchester (NH) Police Department. During the U.S. Marshals investigation,
Malave was featured on the ‘America’s Most Wanted’ web site, as well as featured multiple times as the NH Joint Fugitive Task Force’s ‘Fugitive of the Week’ on both WTPL radio and the internet.

Today, members of the U.S. Marshals developed information that led investigators to a location on
Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It was at this location that Malave was observed
getting into a car; the car was subsequently stopped and Malave was arrested at gun point.

Malave made numerous efforts to change his identity and appearance, including changing his most
visible tattoo, after seeing himself on the America’s Most Wanted web site. “The capture of Richard
Malave is a perfect demonstration of how the NH Joint Fugitive Task Force works with all law enforcement
agencies to take a very dangerous person off the street” said U.S. Marshal Stephen Monier.

Malave was booked at the Cambridge (MA) Police Department and is currently being held before his
initial court appearances.

Annually, investigations carried out by the U.S. Marshals result in the apprehension of approximately
34,000 federal fugitives. More federal fugitives are arrested by Marshals than all other federal agencies
combined.

The New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force is a team comprised of law enforcement officers from
agencies throughout NH. The task force objective is to seek out and arrest violent fugitives. Last year, U.S.

Marshals task forces arrested more than 27,000 state and local fugitives on felony charges.
