Columbia, SC – Barbara Glenn also known
as Barbara Corley of Piedmont, SC was arrested on August 22, 2008 at 11:30am
by the U.S. Marshals Task Force, Operation Intercept. Task Force Officers
advise Corley has been a fugitive for thirty-five (35) years after allegedly
escaping from the Detroit House of Corrections in Plymouth, Michigan. South
Carolina Marshals arrested Corley at a residence on Reserve Drive in
Piedmont, SC. The fugitive was booked
into Anderson County Detention Center to await court proceedings. The arrest
took place without incident.
In announcing the arrest U.S. Marshal Johnny
Mack Brown states “through our investigation we determined Corley had
established an entirely new life in South Carolina. She will now have to
return to Michigan to face her pending charges.”

Marshals Service is the nation’s oldest federal law enforcement agency. In
fiscal 2007, the Marshals arrested more than 36,000 federal fugitives,
clearing 38,900 felony warrants. Marshals Service-led task forces like South
Carolina’s Operation Intercept arrested 46,800 state and local fugitives,
clearing 58,663 state and local fugitives clearing 70,329 felony warrants.
Locally, Operation Intercept arrested over 2,500 South Carolina fugitives
during that same period.
