NIH Library staff members welcomed 946 visitors to the Library's booth at the 2008 NIH Research Festival in October. A survey of visitor job categories revealed that, not surprisingly, the majority were researchers, but clinicians, fellows, support staff and even a few extramural staff stopped by as well.
Visitors received informational materials about the Library; answers to questions about online journals, Library databases, and training classes; and a reminder that, in addition to the extensive resources available through NIH Library on the web, the NIH Library in Building 10 provides a comfortable space for work and study.
Library staff members also participated in the Research Festival with a poster exploring trends in open access publications by NIH authors, based on analysis of data from the PMC Open Access Subset:
Robison, R.R., Joubert, D.J., Livinski, A.A., Ozga, D.L., and P.C. Sieving. "NIH Intramural Authors, Open Access & PubMed Central®." Presented at the 2008 NIH Research Festival. Bethesda, MD, 2008.
