Dr. Avi Shamay arrived in our lab in 1989 to explored the hormone-controlled regulation of milk protein genes in mamamry tissue during pregnancy and lactation. Specifically he studied the control of the whey acidic protein (WAP) gene in transgenic mice and pigs in collaboration with Bob Wall from the USDA.
Avi left our laboratory in 1992 to take a position at the Volcani Institute in Israel where is is currently a staff scientist.
