The Acquisition Management Branch is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, awarding and administering the Institute's total simplified acquisition and contracting program.
The scope of the Institute's program is comprised of a substantial amount of research and development contracts, non research and development contracts, and simplified acquisition awards including commercial items, commercial services, micropurchases, open market, and Federal Supply Schedule orders.
Programs supported include, but are not limited to, clinical trials, NIDDK clearinghouses, equipment purchases for all areas of the Institute, epidemiological research and transplant registries, etc.
Implementation of the program is in accordance with policies and procedures established by the Congress, the Office of Management and Budget, the Department of Health and Human Services, the General Services Administration, the National Institutes of Health, the General Accounting Office, the Federal Courts, and other agencies of the Federal Government.
