Biosketch:
Michael P. Giza is a Senior Grants Management Specialist with the Grants Management Branch, Division of Extramural Activities, NIDDK. Prior to joining NIDDK in December 2004, he spent 6 years with the U.S. Department of Justice, as a Grants Program Specialist with the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) and as a Grants Monitoring Specialist with the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS). Before joining the U.S. Department of Justice, he worked as a Senior Grants Specialist in the Office of Research at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), the armed services medical school operated by the Department of Defense. Michael began and spent most of his Federal career with the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), working for 8 years as a Grants Specialist in the Grants Office and 8 years as a Program Specialist in the Visual Arts Program. He received his B.A. in History with a minor in Art History from Mount Saint Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, MD; spent his Junior Year in Rome, Italy at Loyola University of Chicago’s Rome Center; and has done graduate work in American Studies at George Washington University, Washington, DC.
