H.R.1927—Assuring and Improving Cancer Treatment Education and Cancer Symptom Management Act of 2009

On April 2, 2009, Representative Steve Israel (D-NY) introduced H.R. 1927, Assuring and Improving Cancer Treatment Education and Cancer Symptom Management Act of 2009. The bill contains provisions that would amend the PHS Act to require the Director of NIH to (1) expand, intensify, and coordinate programs for the conduct and support of research to improve cancer symptom management and (2) award nursing intervention research grants. H.R. 1927 was jointly referred to the House Committees on Energy and Commerce and Ways and Means.
