H.R.1844—The Comprehensive Cancer Care Improvement Act of 2009

On April 1, 2009, Representative Lois Capps (D-CA) introduced H.R. 1844, the Comprehensive Cancer Care Improvement Act of 2009. The legislation contains a provision that would require the Director of NIH to establish a research program on palliative care, symptom management, communication skills, and other end-of-life topics for cancer patients. H.R. 1844 was jointly referred to the House Committees on Energy and Commerce and Ways and Means.
