Dramatic Decline in Disability Continues for Older Americans
Disability among older Americans is declining dramatically—and at an accelerating pace. According to analyses from the National Long Term Care Survey, the percentage of people age 65 and older with disabilities fell 1.6 percent per year from 1989–1994 and 2.6 percent annually from 1994–1999.
The Women's Health and Aging Study: Health and Social Characteristics of Older Women with Disability
This monograph describes the baseline findings of an epidemiologic study of the causes and course of disability in the one-third most disabled women living in the community. Sixteen chapters detail the medical problems, physiologic and functional decrements, medication use, and social and psychological characteristics of these women.
