Library Instruction

The Instructional Unit is part of the Research and Instructional Services Department.  We assist library users in learning how to use the many resources the Libraries offer.  We offer general library workshops throughout the semester that are open to anyone who would like to attend and classes that faculty arrange for their students for specific courses. The skills and concepts taught in these classes provide students with a better comprehension of library research and improve their comfort with using the Libraries. Our specially trained instruction librarians teach students to locate, evaluate, and use information relevant to their studies. Learning these skills helps students wade through the vast amount of information available to them both during their time as students of UNT and throughout their lives.

Faculty, please complete the Instruction Scheduling Form to arrange for one or more library instruction classes for your courses.

Students, please check the schedule of library workshops and plan to attend them some time in the next semester.  They will help you do your class work more easily -- and more successfully.

Faculty and librarians, please make use of our handouts to help teach students about library concepts and tools.
