Arian Foster, RB, HOU

Arian Foster

Foster extends scoring streak

News: Texans running back Arian Foster was able to extend his scoring streak to three straight games in Week 14 against the Patriots. Foster was able to get into the end zone on a 1-yard scamper in the third quarter, which capped off a seven-play, 88-yard scoring drive. He finished with just 46 yards rushing on 15 carries in the 42-14 blowout loss and had a long of 15 yards. However, Foster did haul in four receptions for 39 yards, giving him 85 total yards and a TD in the defeat.
Analysis: While Foster once again failed to make much noise in the ground game, he was able to rack up 85 yards of total offense and find the end zone, which salvaged the week for most owners. Things were going so bad for the Texans Monday night, that coach Gary Kubiak pulled his starter mid-way through the fourth quarter as the game was way out of reach by then. While Foster has now turned in two straight underwhelming performances on the ground over the past two weeks, he has still scored three TDs over that stretch and should remain active in all formats when the Texans welcome the Colts to town in Week 15.

Aaron Hernandez, TE, NE Hernandez hauls in two TDs

Aaron Hernandez

Hernandez hauls in two TDs

News: Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez recorded his first multi-touchdown game since 2010 in Week 14 against the Texans. After recovering a Stevan Ridley fumble in the red zone on New England's first drive of the game, he was rewarded on the very next play as quarterback Tom Brady found him from 7 yards out for the score. Hernandez was also on the receiving end of a 4-yard touchdown strike in the second quarter and finished with eight catches for 58 yards in the 42-14 win. He had a long reception of 13 and averaged 7.3 yards per grab. Hernandez was targeted a team-high 11 times in the victory.
Analysis: Hernandez has caught 16 passes for 155 yards with two scores in the last two games and has stepped up for the Patriots with Ron Gronkowski out. He now has four touchdowns on the year, despite missing time due to injury, and is proving to be healthy after dealing with an ankle injury. The 23-year-old is playing like a must-start Fantasy option right now so plan on having Hernandez active in all formats for Week 15 against the 49ers. San Francisco has allowed six touchdowns to tight ends on the year.

Tom Brady, QB, NE Brady tosses four more scores on MNF

Tom Brady

Brady tosses four more scores on MNF

News: After throwing for just 238 yards and one score his last time out, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady got back on track in a big way in Week 14 against the Texans. He threw for three touchdowns in the first half and ended up completing 21 of 35 passes for 296 yards with four scores in the 42-14 win. He hooked up with tight end Aaron Hernandez on New England's first drive of the game for a 7-yard scoring strike before hooking up with wideout Brandon Lloyd from 37 yards out later in the first quarter. Brady found Hernandez again before halftime, this time from 4 yards out, before wide receiver Donte' Stallworth got behind the secondary and scored on a 63 yard pitch-and-catch in the third quarter. Brady, who also gained 6 yards on one carry, posted a 125.4 passer rating in the victory.
Analysis: Brady tossed four touchdowns for the second time this season and the 18th time in his career Monday night as he continues to light up the scoreboard. He has a 19-to-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio in the previous seven games and needs just 167 more yards through the air to reach 4,000 for the third time in the last four seasons. With an improved running game, the Patriots offense has looked unstoppable at times and the 35-year-old will face another tough defense with the 49ers up next on the schedule. While San Francisco has surrendered an average of just 13.1 Fantasy points to quarterbacks thus far, Brady remains a solid start in all Fantasy formats for Week 15, especially with most owners in the playoffs.

Dwayne Bowe, WR, KC

Dwayne Bowe

Report: Bowe headed to IR

News: Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe has already been ruled out for Week 15 against the Raiders and NBC Sports reports the 28-year-old will miss the remainder of the season due to broken ribs. Bowe sustained the injury during Week 14 and is expected to be placed on injured reserve. Coach Romeo Crennel told the Kansas City Star Monday it's possible Bowe might not play again this season.
Analysis: After going over 1,100 yards receiving each of the last two campaigns, Bowe has underachieved in 2012 and it looks as though his season is done. His tenure in Kansas City could also be over after six productive years. Owners should wait for official word from the Chiefs but it looks as though he will not be much help in Fantasy down the stretch. Bowe will be a hot commodity on the free agent market this offseason and will likely be one of the more targeted wideouts in Fantasy on Draft Day in 2013.

Dez Bryant, WR, DAL Bryant might be finished

Dez Bryant

Bryant might be finished

News: The Cowboys' official website reports wide receiver Dez Bryant could be out for the rest of the season depending on the results of his visit with a hand specialist. Bryant suffered a finger injury Week 14 that could require surgery. 105.3 The Fan reports Bryant has torn ligaments in his finger and will have season-ending surgery, but ESPN reports he has a fractured index finger. There has been no confirmation yet from the Cowboys. Coach Jason Garrett told the team's official website he put Bryant's chances at missing the rest of the season at 50 percent
Analysis: If this report turns out to be true, then Fantasy owners are going to lose one of their best players in the most important time of the season. After an inconsistent first half, Bryant has been very steady for Fantasy options lately. He is averaging 105 receiving yards and 18 Fantasy points in his last five games. He also has seven touchdowns in that span. Kevin Ogletree is listed as Bryant's backup on the team's official website, so he could be a player who benefits from Bryant's absence. Miles Austin and Jason Witten would also benefit.

12/10/2012

LeSean McCoy, RB, PHI

LeSean McCoy

McCoy passes concussion test

News: The Eagles announced Monday running back LeSean McCoy passed his concussion test and might return to practice Tuesday. However, CSN Philadelphia reports McCoy hasn't been seen by an independent neurologist. He can practice without seeing an independent neurologist if it's non-contact. McCoy has missed the last three games with a concussion. Although the Eagles didn't officially practice Monday, McCoy would have been listed as a non-participant as the team prepares for Week 15 vs. Cincinnati (Thursday).
Analysis: The Eagles have been patient with McCoy since rookie Bryce Brown had performed well in his absence. However, Brown struggled Sunday against the Bucs, so it might finally be time for Philadelphia to bring McCoy back into the mix. The Eagles have a short turnaround Week 15, so there is still a chance McCoy sits out another game. Even when he returns, McCoy might lose playing reps to Brown. Fantasy owners should continue to keep tabs on McCoy's progress. He might be worth starting in Fantasy if he returns Thursday.

Brandon Lloyd, WR, NE Lloyd leads the way for Patriots

Brandon Lloyd

Lloyd leads the way for Patriots

News: Patriots wide receiver Brandon Lloyd had one of his more productive games this season in Week 14 against the Texans. He found the end zone for the first time in five contests and caught seven passes for 89 yards in the 42-14 win. He got behind the secondary in the second quarter and quarterback Tom Brady hooked up with him for the 37-yard scoring strike. Lloyd found the end zone a second time in the fourth quarter when after Danny Woodhead fumbled in the red zone, he fell on top of the ball for his second score. Lloyd, who was targeted nine times, led New England in receiving in the victory. “He had a great game, made some real critical plays and catches,” Brady told the Boston Herald of Lloyd. “I have a ton of confidence in him.”
Analysis: Lloyd has now hauled in four touchdowns on the year and made a heads-up play Monday night to scoop up the ball in the end zone after Woodhead lost it. While he has not had the campaign most owners were hoping for, the 31-year-old needs 34 more yards receiving to pass his mark from a year ago and should reach it with three games left. Lloyd is on pace for his best year since 2010 and will be going up against a tough defense again with the 49ers up next on the schedule. San Francisco had limited opposing wideouts to an average of 15.8 Fantasy points on the year so owners in deeper formats should consider rolling with Lloyd in Week 15.

12/10/2012

Ahmad Bradshaw, RB, NYG

Ahmad Bradshaw

Bradshaw having knee examined

News: Giants coach Tom Coughlin said running back Ahmad Bradshaw is having his knee examined Monday. Bradshaw injured his knee Sunday against the Saints, but he finished out the game after missing some time in the first half. "Any time you talk about a knee ... I wouldn't speculate on anything," Coughlin said, per Newsday.
Analysis: Coughlin continues to be frustrated with Bradshaw's durability issues. Every time it looks as though he is ready to turn the corner, he is dealing with another ailment. Luckily for the Giants rookie David Wilson had a breakout game Week 14, so if Bradshaw is out or limited Week 15, then the Giants can lean on Wilson. We will keep you posted on Bradshaw's status throughout the week. If he plays Week 15, then he is still a viable Fantasy start in most formats.

1:36 AM

Rob Ninkovich, DE, NE

Rob Ninkovich

Ninkovich records half a sack

News: Patriots linebacker Rob Ninkovich had a productive game in Week 14 against the Texans. He finished with five tackles (two solo) and half a sack in the 42-14 win. Ninkovich now has 6.5 sacks on the year, matching his career high.
Analysis: Ninkovich has become a productive option in Fantasy over the last three seasons and is half a sack away from setting a new career mark. While his tackles have been down in 2012, Ninkovich remains a viable option in deeper IDP formats heading into Week 15 against the 49ers.

1:35 AM

Danieal Manning, FS, HOU

Danieal Manning

Manning leads the way

News: Texans defensive Danieal Manning turned in another semi-productive performance in Week 14 against the Patriots. Manning finished with a team-high seven tackles in the 42-14 defeat, with three of those being credited as solo stops. He now has 62 tackles on the year.
Analysis: Manning has been on the Texans more consistent defenders in the secondary and usually provides owners with a solid source for tackles most weeks. He also has a sack, three forced fumbles, and two interceptions on the season and can be considered a viable low-end option in deeper IDP formats heading into Week 15.

1:31 AM

Aqib Talib, CB, NE

Aqib Talib

Talib injures hip vs. Texans

News: Patriots defensive back Aqib Talib left Week 14 against the Texans in the first half due to a hip injury and did not return. He recorded three solo tackles and defended a pass before the early exit.
Analysis: Talib has been very valuable for the Patriots since coming over from the Bucs so hopefully this injury will not cause him to miss time down the stretch. Keep an eye on his status as the 26-year-old should be considered a viable option in deeper Fantasy IDP formats, when healthy.

1:27 AM

J.J. Watt, DE, HOU

J.J. Watt

Watt held in check by Patriots

News: Texans defensive linemen J.J. Watt was not much of a factor in Week 14 against the Patriots. Watt finished with just four tackles -- two solo -- in the 42-14 defeat, but was credited with three QB hits. He also forced a fumble when he stripped Danny Woodhead, but the ball rolled into the end zone and was recovered by Brandon Lloyd for a touchdown.
Analysis: It just wasn't the Texans night as even Watt appeared to make a play, it resulted in a Patriots TD. The 23-year-old was held in check for most of the night as he was unable to get to the quarterback for the first time in three games. Still, Watt strong play this season has him in the running for Defensive Player of the Year and should remain active in all formats heading into Week 15.

1:18 AM

T.J. Yates, QB, HOU

T.J. Yates

Yates finds the end zone

News: Texans QB T.J. Yates found the end zone for the first time this season in Week 14 against the Patriots. Yates came in of relief of Matt Schaub mid-way through the fourth quarter of the 42-14 blowout loss and led the Texans on a six-play, 25-yard scoring drive. He completed two of his four pass attempts for 15 yards and found the end zone on a 1-yard QB keeper late in the period.
Analysis: Yates and the rest of the reserves saw some run with the Patriots up 35 points in the fourth quarter, which was his first action since back in Week 6. However, Yates will now go back to being Schaub's primary backup, so continue to ignore the 25-year-old in all formats heading into Week 15.

1:16 AM

Vince Wilfork, DT, NE

Vince Wilfork

Wilfork gets after QB

News: Patriots defensive lineman Vince Wilfork had a productive game in Week 14 against the Texans. He recorded four tackles (three solo) with a sack and a pass defended in the 42-14 win. Wilfork now has two sacks on the year.
Analysis: Wilfork usually does not rack up many sacks as his job is to take up space in the middle. He is having another productive campaign, however, so keep him active in deeper IDP formats for Week 15 against the 49ers.

1:13 AM

Devin McCourty, FS, NE

Devin McCourty

McCourty records fourth INT

News: Patriots defensive back Devin McCourty recorded his fourth interception of the season in Week 14 against the Texans. He picked off quarterback Matt Schaub in the end zone in the first half and also posted five solo tackles in the 42-14 win.
Analysis: McCourty has 70 tackles on the year but would really have to make a strong push over the final three games to surpass the 87 he posted last season. Still, given his ability to rack up tackles and bat down passes, keep the 25-year-old active in deeper Fantasy IDP formats for Week 15 against the 49ers.

1:02 AM

Shayne Graham, K, HOU

Shayne Graham

Graham left out in Week 14

News: Texans kicker Shayne Graham did not attempt a field goal for the first time this season in Week 14 against the Patriots. Graham did make both of his PATs and finished with just two points in the 42-14.
Analysis: Graham was reduced to mostly a spectator Monday night as Houston's offense was stuck in the mud for most of the night. While the veteran is still 21 for 26 on his attempts on the season, he has now only attempted one kick over his last two games. However, Houston's offense is usually much more productive at home, which is where they they will face the Colts in Week 15. Fantasy owners should continue to roll with Graham as a viable option in most formats heading into that matchup.

1:02 AM

Patriots, DST NE,

Patriots

Patriots limit Texans in Week 14

News: The Patriots allowed the Texans to move the ball in Week 14 but buckled down when it mattered most. While New England gave up 323 yards of total offense, including 100 on the ground, they outscored Houston to win 42-14. The Patriots sacked quarterback Matt Schaub twice and defensive back Devin McCourty picked him off in the end zone in the first quarter.
Analysis: The Patriots pitched a shutout in the first half Monday night and were able to put some solid pressure on Schaub all game long. Their defense has not had to do a ton of late as their offense continues to rack up the points but their value in Fantasy has increased with their ability to cause turnovers and get after the quarterback. New England will have to control the running game next week against San Francisco as running back Frank Gore and duel-threat quarterback Colin Kaepernick have been effective thus far. Consider the Patriots DST as more of a low-end Fantasy option for Week 15.

12:55 AM

Texans, DST HOU, Texans DST unable to slow Pats

Texans

Texans DST unable to slow Pats

News: The Texans DST allowed 42 points on 419 total yards of offense in Week 15 against the Patriots. The unit was gashed through the air as Tom Brady threw for 296 yards and four scores in the 42-14 blowout loss, with three of his TD passes coming in the first half. The Patriots were able to find the end zone at least once in all four quarters and the Texans were only able to force one turnover, which came late in the fourth quarter on a interception thrown by Ryan Mallett. Houston also racked up just one sack and allowed the Patriots to rack up 27 first downs.
Analysis: The Texans DST got worked Monday night as the unit was unable to slow down the Patriots for most of the night. However, Houston's offense deserves some blame as well as the unit turned in way to many three and outs when the Texans defense did make stops. It appears all the injuries and playing three straight road games finally caught up to the unit as they turned in a major dud. However, the Texans will now have to regroup in a hurry with the talented Andrew Luck and the Colts heading to town in Week 15. While the Texans DST has posted double-digit Fantasy points in eight of its 13 games, owners should consider the unit more of a low-end start against Indianapolis.

12:52 AM

Stephen Gostkowski, K, NE

Stephen Gostkowski

Gostkowski with six PATs in Week 14

News: Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski did not attempt a field goal in Week 14 against the Texans but still had a busy outing. He converted all six of his extra points in the 42-14 win. Gostkowski has made all 59 of his PATs on the season.
Analysis: Gostkowski has made 24 of 30 field goals this season and continues to be one of the more valuable kickers in Fantasy thanks to the potent offense he plays for. He will likely be needed more in Week 15 against the 49ers so keep the 28-year-old active in all formats.

12:47 AM

Danny Woodhead, RB, NE

Danny Woodhead

Woodhead totals 38 yards in Week 14

News: Patriots running back Danny Woodhead did not see a ton of touches in Week 14 against the Texans. He gained 4 yards on one carry and also caught two passes for 34 yards in the 42-14 win. Woodhead caught a pass from quarterback Tom Brady early in the fourth quarter but fumbled it into the end zone and wideout Brandon Lloyd fell on it for the touchdown.
Analysis: Woodhead has not had a huge role on offense in recent weeks as Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen have been seeing more touches. While he is a versatile option out of the backfield, the 27-year-old is not the most consistent option in Fantasy and cannot be counted on in most formats during playoff time. Plan on leaving Woodhead for deeper formats for Week 15 against the 49ers.

12:44 AM

Lestar Jean, WR, HOU

Lestar Jean

Jean nets 31 yards

News: Texans wide receiver Lestar Jean was not much of a factor in Week 14 against the Patriots. Jean hauled in just two receptions for 31 yards in the 42-14 defeat and had a long of 24 yards. He was targeted five times by quarterback Matt Schaub.
Analysis: Jean has been seeing some extended playing time of late and was even able to find the end zone last week. However, Andre Johnson and Owen Daniels remain the team's top two options in the passing game and will continue to see the majority of targets each week. Jean is not a recommended start heading into Week 15 against the Colts.

12:42 AM

Brandon Bolden, RB, NE

Brandon Bolden

Bolden gets back in action

News: After being activated to the 53-man roster earlier in the day, Patriots running back Brandon Bolden returned to action in Week 14 against the Texans. He gained 11 yards on two carries in the 42-14 win. “It felt good,” Bolden told the Boston Herald. “Missing four weeks, you try not to get out of shape or anything like that. you try to keep yourself active. It felt good getting out there for the first time. I did pretty good, I think.”
Analysis: Bolden was suspended four games for violating the league's policy on performance enhancing substances. It looks as though he has been passed on the depth chart by Shane Vereen but he should see minimal touches down the stretch. Owners in the deepest of Fantasy formats should be the only ones concerned about the 22-year-old at this point, however.

12:40 AM

Kevin Walter, WR, HOU Walter shutout on MNF

Kevin Walter

Walter shutout on MNF

News: Texans wide receiver Kevin Walter failed to haul in a reception for the first time this season in Week 14 against the Patriots. Walter was targeted three times in the 42-14 defeat, but Matt Schaub was unable to get him the ball. Andre Johnson led the Texans in receiving as he hauled in eight receptions for 95 yards in the blowout loss.
Analysis: Walter was unable to come down with a catch against New England, which is the first time the veteran has been shutout in the receptions department since Week 15 of last year. While Walter has 35 receptions for 444 yards and two scores on the year, his production has been very inconsistent this season and he should be considered merely a low-end flex option in deeper formats heading into Week 15 against the Colts.

12:38 AM

Shane Vereen, RB, NE

Shane Vereen

Vereen rushes for 40 yards

News: Patriots running back Shane Vereen saw just three carries his last time out but had a larger role in Week 14 against the Texans. He gained 40 yards on eight carries in the 42-14 win. He had a long run of 11 and averaged 5 yards per rush. Vereen finished second on New England in rushing behind Stevan Ridley (72 yards) in the victory.
Analysis: Vereen continues to take a backseat to Ridley in New England and has not rushed for more than 50 yards in a game this season. While he has four total touchdowns, it has become hard to predict his production on a weekly basis with the way the Patriots love to spread the ball around. Given his current role, plan on leaving Vereen reserved in all but the deepest of Fantasy formats for Week 15 against the 49ers.

12:34 AM

Justin Forsett, RB, HOU

Justin Forsett

Forsett racks up 21 yards on MNF

News: Texans running back Justin Forsett was not much of a factor in Week 14 against the Patriots. Forsett gained just 7 yards on three carries in the 42-14 blowout loss and had a long of 5 yards. He also hauled in one reception for 14 yards, but only touched the ball twice after halftime. Arian Foster led the Texans in rushing as he racked up 46 yards and a score on 15 carries.
Analysis: Forsett was a complete non-factor on Monday night, but to be fair the Texans had to give up on the run by the time the second quarter rolled around. The more interesting note Fantasy owners should take away from his latest performance is that it appears Forsett has overtaken Tate as Foster's primary backup. However, that could change moving forward so Fantasy owners should keep an eye on the Texans' depth chart heading into Week 15 against the Colts. Still, even if Forsett does remain the team's No. 2 back, he would only have value as a flex option in deeper formats against Indianapolis.
