Privacy Policy

Welcome to the University of Wisconsin-Extension Cooperative Extension Web site and thank you for reading our privacy policy.  While we automatically collect information about your computer and Internet request, we do not collect any personal information about you when you visit our site unless you choose to provide the information.  This policy applies to all UWEX Cooperative Extension Web sites.  Please read it carefully.

The content of this document can change without notice.

Information that is collected automatically
  1. The IP (Internet Protocol) address of the computer you use to access our Web site.  The IP address is a number that uniquely identifies your computer on the Internet.  Without this number, our servers would not know where to send back the information you are requesting.
  2. The date and time you “hit” each page on our site.
  3. The page you are requesting.
  4. The Web browser and computer operating system you are using to access our site.
  5. The address of the site or page you came from to our site.
Information you send to us

If you choose to send us e-mail or fill out a Web-based form, that information is stored in an employee’s e-mail or in an on-line database.  We use that information to respond to your request or to provide interaction on our Web site. We do not use any of the information you send us for commercial marketing purposes.  However, because UWEX Cooperative Extension is a state institution, we are subject to Wisconsin Open Records Law.  We may be obligated to make our records available if an appropriate open records request is submitted.

Web Site Security and Cookies

Some of our sites require a login to authenticate you and provide personalized content or access to information you have submitted previously to our site.  Occasionally these sites will set a “cookie” in your Web browser.  A cookie is a small file that stores information on your computer. These cookies are only used to identify you for authentication purposes. The cookie file is then accessed on subsequent requests so you don’t have to continue to provide your password.  You may delete the cookies we set or you may disable cookies in your browser, but doing so may cause the site to not function properly.

Applicable Law

We comply with the Federal Trade Commission 1998 Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) (http://www.ftc.gov/ogc/coppa1.htm) and Wisconsin Open Records Law.  The laws of the state of Wisconsin govern this privacy policy.
