Madison County is a county located in Idaho's Upper Snake River Valley. Named for James Madison, the fourth president of the United States, was established February 18, 1913 with the county seat at Rexburg. As of 2000 the population is 27,467. Madison County's first settlers were pioneer families from Utah, who built farms, roads, and the area's first irrigation system. This website provides a cost-effective way for our county to provide information and communicate with our constituents. Dear County Residents,

On December 15th, 2008 the Madison County Commissioners approved the 2020 Comprehensive Plan, Land Use Map and the Subdivision Ordinance. The Subdivision Ordinance is in affect unless there is an appeal to it going to the District Court within 28 days of December 15, 2008. The 2020 Comprehensive Plan and Land Use Map went into affect December 15, 2008 as Resolution #318.
