Library in the News, 5/18: The Gershwin Prize
Posted on: May 18th, 2007 by Matt Raymond
I hope this whole Gershwin Prize thing can help serve as my mea culpa for the sparse posting, but I did want to point out this Richard Harrington story in the Washington Posts Weekend section on the selection of Paul Simon as the first recipient of the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song.
Full disclosure: Ive been so busy today that I havent even read the whole thing yet, but I hope to take a copy into my next meeting and steal a few glances.
There is also a sidebar by Richard on Paul Simons songwriting, which I think will be interesting to anyone interested in musics creative process, especially the creative process of genius.
The Sound of America, indeed!

Many unknown and underground artists, bands, musicians are there, I find their music are more satisfying than a trained professional singers. I think the Government should help them to get recognize.
