Hey Future Bulldogs! My name is Katie Jaeger and I’m from Stockbridge, Georgia.
I’m an Agricultural Communication and Spanish double-major at the University of Georgia in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
Through the Dean’s Promise I was able to use my college’s resources and contacts to study abroad. The trip that I chose placed me in an Agricultural University in France.
In addition to attending the University, I also interned as a farmhand in the Northwestern region of France and had the opportunity to spend my weekends traveling to numerous cities throughout Europe.
During another study abroad experience through the college, I traveled to South America where I cultivated crops on the Galapagos Islands.
I also spent time on the mainland in Ecuador where I volunteered and taught English to children in a small village.
Through these experiences, I have been able to grow on a personal, educational, and professional level. Personally, I have become more independent and more apt to try new things.
By traveling to non-English-speaking countries, I expanded on and improved my foreign language skills. I also learned about different cultures and different ways of life.
As a result, I have gained internship, volunteer, and leadership experience in order to be marketable for a position after graduation. These experiences broadened my perspective of the world and truly changed my life!
The College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of Georgia can provide a life-changing experience for you, too.
