Badgersett Research Corporation:
Woody Agriculture research and development
With roots going back to 1978, Badgersett Research Corporation works on bringing "Woody Agriculture" into the mainstream world of full scale staple food production. Besides selling the nuts we grow, we breed and sell seedlings of hybrid hazelnuts and hybrid chestnuts, and we are involved in all aspects of commercializing these crops, from developing machinery and harvest procedures to consumer products and marketing.

We're currently in the middle of hazel harvest, and expanding our volunteer/education program of last year! Though the crows, deer, squirrels and gophers are getting more than their share, we still have a LOT of nuts out in the field. For updates and volunteering information check the Woody Ag Blog. If you're thinking of volunteering, sooner is better than later!
A new method of chestnut peeling has been developed... a video of it can be found here! Definitely take a look at this if you are planning on using our chestnuts in your family's favorite holiday dishes!
The Seventeenth Annual Badgersett Field Day was held on the third Saturday in August as usual (Aug 16). Recent extra emergencies on the farm reduced the amount of preparation we could do this year, so we had a field work day, which went well! It was a very pleasant day; details on the format will be posted on the event page soon.
Visit the Woody Ag weblog for current news about what is happening on our farm. This includes event announcements and reminders for growers with plants and nuts in the field. The Stories page on the blog also has some detailed tips for people who are already familiar with Badgersett and for those of you who have your own chestnut or hazelnut crops.
Visit the "New On Badgersett.com" page to find the details of recent updates to our web site.
We sell several varieties of our own delicious, homegrown, pesticide- and herbicide-free nuts. Harvest is in late summer and early fall, and nuts sell out very soon thereafter. If you want to spend your holidays roasting chestnuts over an open fire while munching on fresh hazelnut cookies, place your orders early, as we always sell out! Now taking orders for the 2008 harvest.
You've read the info and given it some thought (and perhaps sampled some of our nuts), and you'd like put in your own plants. Like our nuts, plants sell out quickly, so place your orders far in advance of the next planting season.
