What are HARDINESS ZONES?
Suggested hardiness zones are indicated by each tree. For example, zones 4-9 means a tree is hardy in zones 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9, according to the U. S. Department of Agriculture hardiness zone map (click here and use your zip code to see what zone you live in). If a tree is "hardy" in a particular zone, it can be expected to grow in the zone's temperature extremes. These zones do not take into account local variations such as moisture, soil, winds, and other conditions which might affect the viability of individual trees.
NOTE: We cannot ship these trees to AK, AZ, CA or HI. White pines cannot be shipped to ID, MT, NV, OR, RI, or UT. Oaks cannot be shipped to FL, OR, LA. Green ash cannot be shipped to IL, IN, MD, MI, OH, PA, WV.
When will my trees be SHIPPED?
To be sure that your trees arrive in strong and healthy condition, we ship bare-root nursery stock only when it is dormant in the fall and spring seasons. Fall shipments are made between October 15 and December 10. We have to wait until there are a couple of killing frosts so that the trees go dormant and can be shipped safely. In the fall, trees can be planted until the ground is frozen solid. Spring shipments are made between February 1 and May 31. In the spring, bare-root trees can be planted during a broad range of weeks or months -- from when the frost is first out of the ground through late spring. Your trees will be sent according to your local climate and this year's weather.
What GUARANTEE do you offer on my trees?
Let us know right away if your trees do not arrive in good condition for planting and we will replace them free of charge. If you need replacements later you may purchase them in units of 10 for $7.80, plus shipping and handling. Please call our Member Services department at 1-888-448-7337.
