SARE and USDA/ARS – Systems Research
Partners
American farmers are increasingly seeking ways to boost productivity and
profits, but need more information about how these innovations can be
used to optimize sustainable farming practices. The USDA Agricultural
Research Service (ARS) conducts interdisciplinary research to enhance
profit and stewardship on American farms of all sizes. SARE researchers
are invited to participate in several ongoing research projects around
the country. Some examples of possible research areas:
How precision
management, automation, and decision-support technologies can be used
to enhance efficiency and sustainable productivity;
How farmers can
best employ bio-based energy technologies to increase efficiency;
How sustainable
farmers can incorporate data about consumer preference and supply-chain
economics to expand market opportunities.
