S08: Nutrient Management& Soil & Plant Analysis

Division S-8 of the SSSA focuses upon manufacturing technology, additives, coating techniques, evaluation, and soil test analysis.
The 2008 annual meetings in Houston are fast approaching. Following are several items concerning the program and activities for Division S08 (Nutrient Management & Soil & Plant Analysis).
- Graduate Students can attend the Soil Testing & Plant Analysis Breakfast at a significantly discounted rate ($10 vs. $35). Division funds as well as contributions from the Soil and Plant Analysis Council (SPAC) will help support graduate students attending this activity. All graduate students with any interest in soil testing are strongly encouraged to attend and interact.
- Two Division S08 Symposia are scheduled which address current issues related to divisional interest:
- Soil Testing Requirements in an Increasingly Monitored Environment, Tuesday, October 7, 2008, 8:55 am
- Defining Success in Nutrient Management Plans, Wednesday, October 8, 2008, 8:55 am.

- Leo M. Walsh Soil Fertility Distinguished Lecture, Tuesday, October 7, 2008: 3:00 PM
Dr. Liping Yang of the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning (IARRP), Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), will speak about soil testing in China. - S08/S04 Joint Business Meeting, Tuesday, October 7, 2008: 4:00 pm

- Walsh Lectureship ideas
- Website needs and direction.
- The Division S08 officers feel there is a need for more communication and interaction for the benefit of all interested in the Division's focus. We ask for your ideas and participation to help us move forward.
