WASHINGTON, D.C.—FALEOMAVAEGA CREATES NEW CONGRESSIONAL WEBSITE AT WWW.HOUSE.GOV/FALEOMAVAEGA

Congressman Faleomavaega announced today that he has created a new Congressional website for constituents at www.house.gov/faleomavaega.

“Your needs are my priority,” the Congressman said, “and to better serve you, I have created a new website which includes information about grants, immigration, visas, home of record changes, compassionate reassignments, military academy appointments, veteran claims, and other constituent services.”

“The site also has a list of legislation I have sponsored or co-sponsored on behalf of the people of American Samoa.  You will also find speeches and statements, historical documents including the Deeds of Cession, the Constitution of American Samoa, laws authorizing American Samoa an elected Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and a Delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives as well as Congressional Record statements about these proceedings.  I have also included information about internships, Washington DC tours, my public service and committee assignments.”

“Furthermore, I have included information about American Samoa’s federal funding.  The job of a Congressman is to make sure his/her State or Territory receives its fair share of federal dollars.  It is the job of the local government to manage those dollars.  According to the 2000 census, American Samoa has a population of about 60,000.  From 1996-2002, or in a 7-year period, American Samoa received more than a billion dollars in federal aid with more than $770 million going directly to ASG.  Put another way, American Samoa receives more federal funding on a per capita basis than almost any other State or Territory.  You can download this information from my website and I will continue to release 2002-2004 figures as these numbers become available.”

“As part of my ongoing effort to keep you informed, I will also post my press releases and newsletters on my new website.  If you would like to receive advance copies of my press releases or newsletters, you may sign up for my email distribution list at faleomavaega@mail.house.gov.  At this time, I invite you to visit the new website I have created for you.  I also hope you will consider my office your home.  If you need assistance of any kind, please contact me and I will make sure your request is expedited because you are my priority and, as always, I am committed to serving you,” the Congressman concluded.
