Figure 7.3 is a bar graph that shows past month illicit drug use among youths aged 12 to 17 in 2002 by their participation in delinquent behaviors. Past month illicit drug use was 20.7 percent among youths who had participated in a fight at school or work and was 9.3 percent among youths who had not participated in a fight at school or work. Past month illicit drug use was 34.6 percent among youths who had carried a handgun compared with 10.8 percent among youths who had not carried a handgun. Among youths who had sold illegal drugs, 68.8 percent had used illicit drugs in the past month compared with 9.0 percent among youths who had not sold illegal drugs. Past month illicit drug use was 43.8 percent among youths who had stolen property valued over $50 compared with 9.9 percent of youths who had not stolen property valued over $50.
