U.S. Service Academy Nominations
In order to be considered for entry into one of our nation's service academies, applicants must obtain a nomination from the member of Congress who represents their community.* It is Congressman Capuano's honor and privilege to perform this service for students of the 8th District.
*Congressional nominations are not required for admission to the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT. If you would like to learn more about this institution, visit the Academy's web site.

Young people who are interested in this academic and career path should open a file in the Congressman's office by sending a letter of interest to:

Eligibility
To be eligible for a nomination to a service academy, applicants must also meet a variety of requirements including the following:
- Applicants must be between the ages of 17 and 22
- Applicants must be United States citizens
- Applicants must be single
- Applicants must have a minimum SAT score of 500 verbal and 555 math or minimum ACT scores of 24 English, 25 Math, 24 Reading and 25 Science Reasoning
- Applicants must rank in the upper 40% of their class
- Applicants must have outstanding participation and performance in both athletic and non-athletic high school extracurricular activities
There are also physical requirements that vary depending upon the academy.
