Office of Strategic Planning and Financial Management
The Office of Strategic Planning and Financial Management (OSPFM) coordinates NIAID’s strategic planning and evaluation, integration of resource requirements for long-term financial and capital assets, budgeting, financial management activities, and knowledge management. In collaboration with members of the Institute's scientific divisions and executive management, OSPFM develops strategic plans, policies, goals, objectives, strategies, and techniques in support of the Institute’s missions.
OSPFM's responsibilities include:
- Directing and coordinating all phases of trans-NIAID strategic planning and financial management to ensure that they are integrated, effective, and mutually supportive
- Serving as liaison, both internal and external, for all trans-NIAID planning and financial management activities
- Ensuring that the Institute has a long-range, sustainable vision and program plan for carrying out its mandate, based on:
- A sound understanding of trends in disease prevalence and treatment and of the general state of science
- Ongoing and effective assessment of its programs, both existing and proposed
