ReminderCheck Third-Party Software Compatibility with MVS OS/390
New releases of the MVS operating system OS/390 will soon be installed at the NIH Computer Center—version 2.4 for the MVS North system and version 2.5 for the South system. This level of the MVS operating system has many new enhancements and is year 2000 compliant. See the article on OS/390 in the December 1997 Interface (issue 203). We expect to migrate to OS/390 2.4 on the North system in the late fall of 1998 and to 2.5 on the South system in the spring of 1999. Please read future issues of Interface for updates on the status of this migration. Ensure That Third-Party Software Will Still Function All North and South MVS system users and customers who have installed third-party software on these systems should contact their vendors to ensure that such software will be supported and still functions in this new MVS operating system environment. A web site for this operating system has been established by IBM. We recommend you go to the webpage http://www.s390.ibm.com/os390, click on "Vendor support" and look at the link "Vendor product compatibility with OS/390."
