Objective: To support novel mechanistic exploratory and developmental
investigations in food allergy research, focusing on ex vivo studies
with human specimens; studies with current or new animal models
of food allergy; and bringing new investigators into food allergy research.
Description: This initiative will support novel mechanistic studies
in food allergy using human specimens or animal studies using models
of human food allergy. Research may focus on the recommendations of the
NIH Expert Panel on Food Allergy Research, including: biomarkers and
genetic components of food allergy and severe food allergy; food allergens
epitopes and novel food allergens; and biomarkers, genetics, and mechanistic
studies in animal models.
Applicants should be investigators new to the field of food allergy
research, including those with ongoing programs in immunology and allergy
research.
This initiative plans to develop and take advantage of public-private
partnerships in food allergy research. |
