Thiurams are used mainly as rubber accelerators. In North America, they are the most common sensitizers of the rubber additives. Sensitization is usually from shoes, gloves, adhesives, condoms, rubber pillows, sheets, and clothing. Some of the thiurams are used as various pesticides, and some are used in plastics and putty. Rubber chemicals in gloves are one of the allergens of hairdressers. [Marks, p. 129-32, 326]
