Session II - P.L. 107-188  Public Health Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act

On June 12, 2002, the President signed H.R. 3448, the Public Health Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002, as P.L. 107-188. The measure contains provisions of interest to NIH related to 1) antimicrobial resistance, 2) use of animal trial data when human trials cannot be conducted ethically, 3) accelerated research and development of countermeasures for priority pathogens, 4) security of DHHS medical and research facilities, 5) regulation and control of biological agents and toxins, and 6) food safety.
