Session II - P.L. 107-172  Hematological Cancer Research Investment and Education Act of 2001

On May 14, 2002, the President signed into law S. 1094, the Hematological Cancer Research Investment and Education Act, as P.L. 107-172. This legislation amends the Public Health Service Act to require that 1) NCI expand and coordinate blood cancer research programs, particularly with respect to leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma; and 2) the Secretary of Health and Human Services establish a related education program for patients and the general public. S. 1094 would authorize such sums as may be necessary for FY 2002 and each subsequent fiscal year. For further information, go to the Thomas Web Site.
