Buyer to Meet With Community Planners on East-West Corridor Project

   
 

Monticello, IN - Congressman Steve Buyer (IN-04) will meet with local community leaders on Tuesday, February 12, to discuss progress on the East-West Corridor Project.  Media representatives are also invited to attend the meeting.  The project would serve as a east-west arterial route for the northern portion of Johnson County, beginning at S.R. 37, continuing east across S.R. 135, U.S. 31, and I-65, and end at the county’s eastern border.  In 2005, Congressman Buyer secured $1 million in federal assistance toward the project.

Presently, travelers moving east and west in the northern portion of Johnson County must primarily use two-lane rural county roads that were never designed to handle the traffic volumes that they endure on a daily basis.  Upon completion, the East-West Corridor Project will be approximately 20 miles long.
