Isakson Named to Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee
Also Will Serve as Vice Chairman of Ethics Panel

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., today was named to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, which has jurisdiction over issues including communications, highways, aviation, rail, climate change, disasters, space, technology, product safety and insurance.

"Transportation is our state’s single greatest need, and I’m glad Georgia will have a seat at the table on the Commerce Committee when the critical issues affecting highways, aviation and rail come up,” Isakson said.

Senate leadership also announced Isakson will serve as vice chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Ethics.

“Ethical wrongdoing by members of Congress should not be tolerated, and I am deeply honored the Republican Leader would ask me to serve as vice chairman of the Ethics committee. I promise to bring integrity and fairness to our proceedings,” Isakson said.

Isakson also will continue to serve on these Senate committees:

  • Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (known as HELP)
  • Committee on Foreign Relations
  • Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.
  • Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship

“I also am thrilled that these committee assignments will allow me to continue working on issues that are so important in Georgia, especially education and veterans,” Isakson said.
