Through a variety of programs, CEPS staff transmit their
enthusiasm and knowledge about planetary science to the public at large.

Looking
at Earth highlights the development of aerial and orbital
imagery from the earliest balloon photos of the 19th Century to
today's latest satellite images. |

Exploring
the Planets tours the different worlds of the solar system.
CEPS staff are currently planning an update to the Exploring the
Planets gallery that will utilize new technologies to bring the
latest discoveries in planetary science to the general public. |

Earth Today,
presented in a state of the art digital theater, is updated several
times daily to show near real-time satellite views of the Earth's
atmosphere, oceans, and landmasses. |

GPS: A New Constellation
describes the history of Global Positioning Systems, how they work,
and how the technology is used today. |
|
Lunar
samples on display in the Museum include five samples from
various Apollo missions. Touch a piece of the Moon! NASM displays
one of only five lunar samples in the world that you can touch.

Coming next year, Windows on Earth, an interactive kiosk in the Looking at Earth gallery, providing a high-tech view of the Earth from space. |

CEPS maintains a number of kiosks in the Exploring
the Planets gallery highlighting imagery from recent and current
planetary science missions. |
Public Programs:
CEPS
staff participate in the development and presentation of public programs,
including lecture series, planetarium programs, museum
events, and outreach activities. These presentations address current
research in CEPS and/or topics in Earth and planetary sciences. Thousands
of visitors have participated in CEPS' popular Mars
Day!, Discover the Moon Day, and Geography
From Space events.
CEPS works closely with the Museum's Educational Services
Division to develop educational materials and programs, including curriculum
materials, workshops, and online activities.
